Today I am so excited to share a real Milk + Honey Travelers trip that required a whole new level of responsibility…
First, congratulations on your engagement!
Being a travel advisor gives me a front row seat to the most epic event planning period of many couple’s lives.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could always travel with someone who thought just like us when it came to crafting an ideal travel experience?
I am a huge fan of Bali.
Honeymoon planning can feel complicated and overwhelming — but it doesn't have to!
Once I decided I would get married in Costa Rica, there was no hesitation on where I wanted to spend my time after the wedding on my honeymoon.
I just returned home from Costa Rica where I married my person with our toes in the sand surrounded by our closest friends and family, and then spent some time honeymooning in the rain forest at one of the most beautiful resorts in the world.
It’s been the most amazing start to the year, but of course planning a wedding a mere 3 1/2 months after getting engaged was quite a tall order. Not only that — it was a destination wedding. For me, that meant planning an unforgettable vacation experience for 30 people I care deeply about, and wanting their time in this beautiful country to be special and meaningful as well.
So many people have asked “why Costa Rica?!”⠀
Costa Rica is my soul destination. If you’ve ever been, you can understand why. It has the highest life satisfaction in the world, and being there you can’t help but have that rub off on you.
It is also an adventure lover’s perfect playground. There is so much to do, see, and experience here, that your vacation can delight your senses in every way possible. The great thing is though, you don’t have to do all. the. things. You can also find delight in swaying in a hammock all day and watching some of the most beautiful sunsets you’ve ever seen.
I saw our friends and family enjoy the experience we created for them, and truly live PURA VIDA, even for just a few days. And my wedding? I still can’t tell you what type of flowers were in my bouquet, but I remember taking a moment towards the end of the reception to just look out and soak it all in. It was better than I hoped it would be. Without being overly sappy, it truly was the best day ever.
Pura Vida is a way of life. The literal translation is “pure life”— and you can use it as a greeting, a thank you, or just to say something is awesome. It symbolizes moving things forward and simply enjoying life. ⠀
I believe that when you visit this place their outlook on life rubs off on you and you can’t help but feel more at peace in this beautiful country. ⠀
My hope is that we introduced that to all of our guests and they felt that as well.
I’d love to do the same for you! Contact me to plan your own personal vacation or honeymoon to this amazing destination and lets make it unique and special for you and your interests.
If you are thinking about planing your own destination wedding here, I’d love to help you make this a vacation experience your guests are sure to remember. I’m so excited to share this blog with you today because it’s the love child of two of my favorite things… Costa Rica and sunsets.
Honeymoon’s are your first family vacation. As such, the planning of your first family vacay should be of utmost importance.
Romance can be found in so many different and unique places around the world. Yes, you want that beautiful romantic element to your travel experience, but what else are you looking to pair it with? The following is a list of some of my favorite destinations around the globe, compiled into categories you can identify with and will be drawn to based on your own interests. This list could easily change seven times before Friday, but it’s a fantastic starting point to help you think about creating the type of travel experience that fits you personally.
Overview: A visit to French Polynesia is about as close as it gets to experiencing paradise. Enjoy 7 beautiful sun-soaked days as you quickly slip into a slower-paced way of life and spend your days enjoying the turquoise waters and top of the line luxury accommodations in your own overwater bungalow. Bora Bora is considered one of the most the most romantic islands in the world. From the dramatic scenery to the privacy and amenities of the overwater bungalows, everything here equals a 10 on the romance scale.
Let’s face it: the selfie is so yesterday. Yes, they’re great for instant gratification, Facebook feeds, and fun Instagram updates. But couples are moving away from letting “the selfie” define their honeymoon.
Couples are still taking impromptu snapshots while walking along the bridges of Paris or lingering over afternoon cocktails in Rome. But the selfie is now seen as a fun snapshot, a digital moment to share on social media. In addition to these fun self-portraits, couples are now craving something more. They want higher quality pictures that truly reflect their personalities. They also want pictures that are worth printing or using to make beautiful photo books of their trip. Because a honeymoon is such a unique and once-in-a-lifetime trip, couples now value honeymoon photography just as much as their own wedding photography.
Tulum is fast becoming one of the “go-to” Mexican destinations for many travelers. It’s easy to see why this Mayan city built next to the sea is so popular. It has a spectacular setting, and a laid-back, casual chic vibe that makes it an ideal place to relax and rejuvenate.
Here is my personal rundown of how to best enjoy this Caribbean beauty.
There are so many things I love about the Tuscany region of Italy, that I consider it my top destination for honeymoons in Europe. And there is nothing I love more than crafting a perfect honeymoon experience. There are two main ways you can do Italy— spend your time seeing a lot, or take your time having an experience. For couples who appreciate the ability to soak in the true essence of Tuscany, and create lasting memories of special moments within a trip customized specifically for you, consider the following outline as a sneak peek into my version of la dolce vita.
Begin in Florence…
You know what I love about honeymoons? It is your first family vacation. There will be no other “first” that encompasses what this trip does, and because of that, I think it is SO important!
In light of that, what will make this first trip as Mr. & Mrs. incredibly perfect for you, is to make sure it is created with you in mind. Your honeymoon should be perfectly suited to your tastes and desires, and this is true whether you have traveled the world extensively, or the last time you went on a vacation was with your parents to Disneyland when you were 12.
You know those postcard photos you see of these ridiculously beautiful destinations that look too amazing to even be real?! Like, is that real life??? Where is the water that color of blue? How does somewhere exist that seems to exude such relaxation simply by looking at a photo?
Well, one such destination is The Maldives, and it really does spell absolute perfection for honeymooners looking for romance, or couples looking to get away and stare deeply into each other’s eyes as they watch the sun set day after day in one of the most gorgeous locations in the entire world. If the following paragraphs ring true for you, know that this is somewhere you should certainly put on your wanderlust radar.
Creating itineraries for people who don’t travel very extensively can be exciting. It also can be a bit challenging in it's own way. Whereas you can have some clients who know exactly what they like and what they want to do, the flip-side is having clients who don’t know too much about what they might enjoy while traveling. Case in point- I just had a honeymoon couple return from an absolutely amazing trip in Europe that had never been, yet wanted a fully customized, off the beaten path trip that was all their own.
The hard part at the beginning though, was being able to uncover what the experience was they were after. Our literal starting point was: “We want to spend about three weeks in Europe.” No specific countries, no specific type of trip… just Europe. A whole entire continent of goodness.
