Seattle, WA

Seattle is an amazing vacation destination—for families, for couples looking for a romantic getaway, for active and outdoorsy adventures, or for solo travelers. The Emerald City is filled with unique attractions like the Space Needle and Pike Place Market, a fresh local food scene, and outdoorsy pursuits galore - alongside the  constant whir and hiss of espresso machines. Luxury hotels, high-end restaurants, and art galleries are growing, and the city's vaunted music scene never went away (even though grunge did), making Seattle more desirable than ever.

Milk & Honey Tip

Seattle is also known for its microbrewery scene. The Ballard neighborhood has a number of microbreweries, and you’ll find larger Pyramid and Elysian in SoDo and Capitol Hill respectively. If you’re not a fan of beer, there is lots of local wine to try due to both Eastern Washington, but also Woodinville Wine Country right outside of Seattle.

Eat

Though most of the hotels are concentrated downtown, it’s worth the hike up to Capitol Hill, the city’s youth culture center and home to the buzziest eateries. At JuneBaby, chef Edouardo Jordan serves soul food spruced up with modern touches, exploring the cuisine's fusion of West African, American, and European traditions, and the dark history to which it is forever fused. From the kitchen the shrimp gumbo best exemplifies what makes this restaurant so special. Canlis, opened in 1950, still occupies an important place in Seattle's food landscape and serves the retro-steakhouse dishes that put it on the map. Reckless Noodle House is an odd little surf shack where the cocktails flow freely and the flavor-packed plates take inspiration from Vietnam, Cambodia, China, and Thailand.

Play

Seattle Center is home to many attractions all in one spot. It’s popular with residents and visitors alike. The Space Needle is within its bounds and offers great views of the city. Festivals and events are common throughout the year and include cultural festivals, Northwest Folklife, Winterfest and more. And there are plenty of individual attractions here too, from the Pacific Science Center and MoPop, to Chihuly Garden and Glass, to KeyArena, to the International Fountain. You’ve probably heard of the Pike Place Market - Seattle’s iconic farmer’s market. You can buy fresh produce, meats and flowers, but you’ll also find restaurants and eateries galore, as well as shops to explore. Don’t miss the famous Pike Place Fish Market where you’ll see the workers throwing fish, but make sure to wander beyond that as you'll find everything from unique spices to rock shops and artist-made goods within.

Sleep

Hotel Theodore [Boutique]

Hotel Theodore is fresh off not just a name change but a thorough redesign as well, turning it into a proper luxury boutique hotel. The rooms are attractive, the bathrooms particularly lovely, and the honor bar features drinks by local makers. And the Theodore has made an impact on Seattle’s restaurant scene as well; Rider is an open-plan restaurant with a wood-fired grill, focusing on the Northwest’s extraordinary seafood as well as meat, dairy, and produce from local makers.
